Each May RISHA invites various groups and RISHA committees to join the organization in celebrating Better Hearing and Speech Month at the RI State House. The displays are arranged around the Senate chamber from 2-4 pm. Senator Hanna Gallo reserves seats in the Senate chamber for attendees and introduces the invited guests. A Senate proclamation is read declaring May Better Hearing and Speech Month in RI.
RISHA held its annual Better Hearing and Speech month display at the RI State House on Tuesday May 19, 2015. Groups represented this year included; RI Speech-Language-Hearing Association (RISHA), RI College Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (RICSSLHA), AT & T (ATEL), CBS Therapy and the RI Commission for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (RICDHH). RISHA presented chocolate lips to each Senator. Senator Hanna Gallo, speech/language pathologist in the Cranston School Department arranged for a group photo in the chamber and introductions to the full Senate following the reading of the proclamation declaring May as Better Hearing and Speech Month in the State of RI.
RISHA is honored to continue this tradition each year and encourages anyone interested in having a display or attending the event to contact RISHA.
