RISHA SLP Of the Year
In 2012, the RI Department of Education (RIDE) began including SLPs and other support professionals in their annual Teacher of the Year celebration each September during a WaterFire Providence event. RISHA was given the responsibility, and honor, to select one school-based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) each year for this recognition.
The requirements for the Rhode Island SLP of the Year include:
- SLP must be an actively employed SLP in a RI public/charter school
- SLP must demonstrate leadership qualities as a mentor, supervisor, etc.
- SLP must demonstrate ongoing continuing education efforts
- SLP must be nominated by a colleague and/or colleagues and/or administrator(s) who complete the application process
The SLP of the Year will be selected by a RISHA Committee of retired school-based speech-language pathologists. In addition to the recognition provided by RIDE, the honoree will also receive a FREE one-year membership to RISHA. If the honoree is already a RISHA member, they may give this membership to another SLP or use it for themselves at a later time.
Please complete the nomination form and email to Ellen Connery, M.S. CCC-SLP at econnslp@gmail.com. Deadline to submit nominations is May 31st.
